Pull for Kids Child Advocates Houston

The Pull for Kids Classic is Child Advocates’ largest fundraiser. It will kick off on Saturday morning with the annual Pull for Kids Classic Sporting Clays Tournament for both individual and corporate teams at the American Shooting Centers. The clay shoot will include great food, games and fun giveaways. It is sure to be a wonderful time, all while benefiting Child Advocates and ‘pulling’ for our kids.

Friday evening, we will enjoy a "Capri Night" at Bayou City Event Center. Our relaxed evening party will entertain you with a delicious dinner and drinks, plus incredible live, silent and big board auction items—all while we share a moving story about our mission.

Your investment is needed more than ever and will support Child Advocates’ work implementing essential programs to better address the unique and complex needs of foster youth and help them heal from childhood trauma. Please join us as we raise $685,000 this year to give Child Advocates the resources to serve 1,350 children in 2025.

This year, we are proud to recognize Vitol alongside the Rubbo Family as our 2025 Pull for Kids Classic Honorees. Their unwavering commitment to Houston’s most vulnerable children and their long-standing support of Child Advocates make them extraordinary partners in our mission.

Ashlee and Joe Rubbo are pillars of generosity and compassion in our community. Their journey with the organization began in 2005, when their daughter Taylor set up a lemonade stand to raise money on behalf of Child Advocates—an early and heartfelt sign of the family's commitment to helping children in need.

Since then, the Rubbos, joined with Vitol, have continued to show extraordinary support, particularly through their involvement in Santa’s Wish List. Thanks to their generosity, countless children in foster care have been able to experience the joy and magic of the holidays, receiving gifts and support that brighten their season and remind them they are not forgotten.

The Rubbos have championed our cause through their advocacy, volunteerism, and philanthropic leadership. Their dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of children in foster care reflects the very heart of this event.

Equally deserving of recognition, Vitol has been a steadfast corporate partner, consistently stepping up to support Child Advocates through generous sponsorships, employee engagement, and community investment. Vitol’s commitment to social responsibility—especially in uplifting the lives of children—sets a standard for what corporate citizenship can look like.

Together, Vitol and the Rubbo Family exemplify the power of partnership in creating real change. We are honored to celebrate their impact and grateful for their continued support of our work.

Every 8 minutes, a child in Texas experiences abuse or neglect. Last year, there were over 5,900 children who were victims of abuse in Houston. Child Advocates trains everyday people to advocate for the best interests of these children in court so they can find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Our advocates step in during a traumatic time in a child’s life and provide them with constancy, a shoulder to lean on, a familiar face, hope for a brighter future—and above all, a voice in the courtroom.
Child Advocates Houston
Since 1984, Child Advocates has recruited and trained over 6,800 advocates who have helped over 29,000 children.

By supporting this fundraising event, you will ensure that more foster children in Houston will receive the support of an advocate. The gift of an advocate makes an impact that lasts for generations, allowing us to help break the cycle of abuse in a family.
